Evaluation basics

In this section, we provide a quick refresher on the basics of evaluation. In particular, we contrast conventional, one-off independent project evaluation with the ACE approach, which encourages ongoing, in-house monitoring, evaluation and program learning. We discuss the difference between trying to ‘demonstrate an impact’ on a health issue and documenting influence on the community and policy systems that affect our health. At the end of this lesson you will understand the strengths of each approach and have a better sense of which approach is best suited for your own purposes.
