Scenario
John is a 56 year old gay man. He is an HIV long-term survivor who moved to regional Australia after living in the inner city for most of his life.
There is one HIV s100 prescriber at the family health clinic that John attends.
John has a number of chronic health conditions related to HIV, including diabetes, fatty liver disease, and atherosclerosis (hardened arteries).
Recently John has been considering early retirement, as he has peripheral neuropathy (pain and numbness) in his feet and hands.
Occasionally John sees a different clinician at the family health clinic and he finds their questions about his HIV uninformed and intrusive.
John can’t remember if he opted out of the My Health Record back in 2018.
Recently John has been experiencing chest pain and he is referrred to the heart clinic at the nearby regional hospital.
