People with stigmatised conditions, practices and communities, including people with HIV, may want to control who is able to access their My Health Record (MyHR).
What is MyHR
MyHR is an electronic health record-keeping system run by the Australian Digital Health Agency.
Health care providers can upload documents that describe aspects of your health to MyHR. For example, a pathology lab can upload your latest blood results in a PDF onto your record. Once uploaded, it is available for other health care providers to view. This can make it easier to coordinate your health care when you see multiple providers, such as general practitioners, medical specialists, pathology providers, and possibly hospital clinics or inpatient units.
Unless you specifically opted out of the scheme back in 2018, it is likely that you have a health record in MyHR. The default setting on a MyHR allows ‘general access.’ This means any Australian health care provider can view and add to your MyHR.
